RECALL: 60+ Omega-3 Supplements Impacted After Dog Gets Sick
Stratford Care USA, Inc produces omega-3 supplements for dogs and cats under a variety of brand names. Now, since a dog showed signs of vitamin A toxicity after ingesting the supplements, the company issued a voluntary recall as a safety precaution.
62 products were recalled on March 10, 2023, for potentially elevated levels of vitamin A. Even though vitamin A necessary in a healthy diet, too much could lead to severe health issues and, in extreme cases, death. So, if your dog takes omega-3 supplements, check to make sure the product you use isn’t part of the recall.

Dangers of Elevated Vitamin A Levels
Vitamin A is healthy for dogs, but too much can put them at risk. Dogs who eat products with elevated vitamin A may experience nausea, anorexia, weakness, tremors, convulsions, or paralysis. In extreme cases, death could occur.
However, only one report of vitamin A toxicity has been reported related to these supplements. Hopefully, this recall will prevent other dogs from getting sick too.
What to Do with the Recalled Products
These supplements are at a variety of locations, including veterinary clinics, pet supply stores, distribution centers, and online retailers like Amazon and Chewy. If you purchased any of the products, stop serving them to your pet right away. Discard the remaining supplements in a way that no pets or wildlife can access them. Veterinarians and retailers should remove the products from shelves immediately.
If you have any questions or would like a refund, you can contact Stratford Care USA, Inc. You can call them at 877-498-2002 from 9 am to 5 pm EST Monday through Friday or via email at adversevents@stratfordrx.com.
