A New App Helps You Book Private Dog Parks For Your Shy Or Reactive Pups

Not all dogs enjoy the chaos that is the dog park. It can be a fun adventure for many furry friends, but the thought of being around multiple dogs can be exhausting for others.
Shy or reactive pups don’t often get to explore new surroundings for this reason, which is why Sniffspot created a platform that offers private parks for doggy introverts to rent!

Many of us are familiar with the platform known as Airbnb. This app allows you to book a home for a certain period of time. Sniffspot follows a similar premise. Local homeowners can offer up their outdoor space for any pup that needs it, allowing them to enjoy interruption-free activity. Most people charge anywhere from $10-$15 an hour to use their backyard, and some even offer doggy pools and free dog treats.
Most people who offer up their backyards are dog lovers with extra green space. Sniffspot hosts have to ensure that their yard is safe for off-leash fun and free of any possible dog interactions.

The hosts can only allow one dog to book the space at a time and must mention if any other dogs can be viewed from the yard. Those with reactive pups know that even the sight of another dog nearby can be upsetting for them, so this is truly a gamechanger.
“We don’t use our yard very often. I thought, what a great way to help people who can’t take their dog to a dog park or they just don’t want to go to a dog park. People are just really appreciative that they can take their dog somewhere where they feel safe.” – Sniffspot host
The hosts try to make their yard as pet and people-friendly as possible, with many even adding comfortable seating options for you to kick back and relax. Some hosts even say people have held small picnics with their pups in the yard.

The Sniffspot app is just getting off the ground, but they do have over 2,000 spots listed around the world at this point. When doing a quick search on a handful of main cities on the app, each option had multiple private yards to choose from.
This is such a wonderful idea, and we hope that more people throughout the country will soon volunteer their yards for the many shy furry friends of their area. We can’t wait to watch this company grow!
